Frédéric Guilbert played a key role as Strasbourg edged a five-goal thriller on Sunday with a 3-2 win at Bordeaux.

The full-back started an produced an all-action display and provided his third assist of the Ligue 1 season for Habib Diallo to put Strasbourg 2-0 ahead after just 21 minutes. 

Guilbert's side added a third on the half-hour mark, but Bordeaux got two goals back before the break.

Fortunately for Strasbourg that is where the scoring ended, as they collected all three points to take themselves up to 13th in the Ligue 1 table.

Ally Samatta was on the scoresheet for Fenerbahce on Monday, with his first goal since January enough to secure a 1-0 victory over Denizlispor.

Samatta's heading ability is well-known and he rose to convert Caner Erkin's corner on 64 minutes, with the visitors unable to strike back.

Fenerbahce's Turkish Süper Lig title challenge had been stuttering but they are now just two points behind league leaders Besiktas, who have a game in hand. 

Lovre Kalinic captained Hajduk Split as they extended their unbeaten league run to six games with a 2-0 win over Lokomotiva Zagreb on Friday. 

The experienced goalkeeper returned from international duty with Croatia to keep his seventh clean sheet in 11 league games since his loan spell began in January. 

In the Championship, Conor Hourihane endured a disappointing Easter double-header as Swansea City fell to their third and fourth defeats in succession. 

A hamstring injury forced Hourihane out of the Republic of Ireland squad for the recent international break, but he returned as an unused substitute at Steve Cooper's side were beaten 1-0 at Birmingham City on Friday night. 

The midfielder returned to face Preston North End at the Liberty Stadium on Monday, but he was substituted on 81 minutes before the visitors scored a stoppage time winner.

Walsall's winless run in League Two continued over the weekend but Tyreik Wright started each of the goalless draws against Harrogate Town and Leyton Orient.

Elsewhere in the fourth tier, Indiana Vassilev came on for the final 14 minutes of Cheltenham Town's 4-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers, before he was an unused substitute for their 1-1 draw at Grimsby Town. 

Ayr United's progress in the Scottish Cup was halted by Clyde, with goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo unable to prevent a 1-0 defeat in the third round. 

Dominic Revan's Weymouth had a mixed weekend, with a 2-1 win over Maidenhead United followed by a 3-2 defeat at Halifax Town. 

Also in the National League, Cameron Archer started for Solihull Moors as they played out a goalless draw with Sutton United, while Jack Clarke was a second-half substitute at Chesterfield won 1-0 away at Eastleigh.

In Northern Ireland, Ben Guy started as Portadown were beaten 4-0 by Glentoran.
