Aston Villa Women lost 3-1 to Everton at Walton Hall Park on Sunday.
Goals either side of half-time by Lucy Graham and Izzy Christiansen put paid to a spirited display from Marcus Bignot's side.
Simone Magill added a third late on to add to Villa's woes.
Villa created chances of their own to show for their effort, but were undone in familiar style at the other end.
The results over the past weekend leave Villa at the bottom of the Barclays FA Women's Super League table with five games to play.
Two changes were made by Marcus Bignot after last weekend's defeat to Chelsea.
Mana Iwabuchi, who has travelled to Japan for their upcoming friendlies, was replaced by Shania Hayles.
Freya Gregory, meanwhile, came in for Emma Follis to make her first senior start in claret & blue.
Villa, as has been the case of late, started the game very brightly.
Hayles cut in dangerously from the right-hand side before feeding the ball towards Gregory who poked an effort towards goal.
Moments later, Marisa Ewers planted a header on target but saw the Everton 'keeper hold comfortably.
That would be the captain's last notable involvement, as she seemed to aggravate the same injury sustained in the 2-0 defeat to the Blues last Sunday.
Villa continued to battle hard but were undone as half-time approached.
Graham, unmarked in the middle, headed firmly past Lisa Weiß to break Villa hearts and give Everton the lead going into the interval.
Villa looked to have dug themselves into a deeper hole straight out of the break, when Olivia McLoughlin handled inside her own area.
The referee pointed to the spot without hesitation, but Weiß got down well to parry Graham's kick wide and keep the deficit at one.
Everton, however, were awarded another penalty just after the hour-mark.
Izzy Christiansen was tasked with the spot-kick this time, and made no mistake in dispatching the ball past Weiß to finally double the hosts' advantage.
Everton added further insult to injury before full-time, when Simone Magill prodded home a loose ball from close range.
Villa did continue to battle until the final whistle was blown, and they did have a goal to show for it.
Chloë Arthur rose highest to head home her first in claret & blue, and score Villa's first goal since February 6th.
Villa now head into the last international break of the season, before returning to action the following weekend against Manchester City in the Vitality Women's FA Cup.
