Keinan Davis spoke of his delight at bagging his first Premier League goal and how much it means to him to get off the mark.
The 23-year-old rescued a point for Aston Villa in Sunday’s derby clash against West Bromwich Albion, showing striker’s instinct to pounce on a defensive error and prod home from close range in added time.
The joy was etched on Davis’ face as he celebrated his maiden strike in the top flight, and his sixth for the club, which claimed a 2-2 draw.
Speaking to VillaTV, he said: “It was good, obviously we went out to get the win but to pick up a point rather than no points is better.
“I was delighted to get the goal to help the team.
“I think I hit the post (before the goal) but there were quite a lot of bodies in there, so it was unlucky.”

Reflecting on his strike, Davis added: “I just tried to anticipate where the ball was going to end up after Ollie headed it back.
“So, just to be sniffing around the box, and luckily it landed there and I was on the end of it, it was good.”
Asked what it means to register his first goal among England’s elite, he said: “It obviously means a lot, it’s been a long time to be fair, in the Premier League, so I’m just delighted.
“As a striker, it’s got to be on your mind to be scoring goals, but just to help the team in as many ways as you can.
“Like against Fulham, but here I got the goal and obviously it means more.”
