Coaches Sean Verity and Liam Bramley were delighted with Aston Villa’s performance in their 9-0 FA Youth Cup win against Burton Albion on Wednesday afternoon.

The Young Lions, who were taking on a side that had masterminded giant killings in the previous two rounds, raced into a 3-0 lead after ten minutes and continued to dominate for the entirety of the match.

Ruthless in attack and rarely troubled at the back, there was a lot for Villa’s coaches to praise after the game at Villa Park.

Lead PDP U18 Coach Sean Verity said: “You’ve got to be happy when you see performances like that from kids who you’ve seen play for a few years.

“Most have come through the Academy and then we’ve got ones we’ve added as well. Particularly as we didn’t have the best Monday and Tuesday in terms of training, it was nice that they turned up with the right mentality to do that and be 3-0 up after ten minutes.

“You’ve got to be happy with days like today because you have too many days that aren’t like today. That teaches you to enjoy these ones a little bit more.”

Carney Chukwuemeka, Aaron Ramsey, Louie Barry (3), Brad Young and Seb Revan got the goals as the Young Lions secured a safe passage to the quarter finals.

A trip to Newcastle United beckons in the last eight, with the Villans already excited for the game against the Magpies.

Liam Bramley, Assistant Lead PDP U18 Coach, said: “The lads are already thinking about it.

“We’ll go through the same process, so we’ll review this one and then start thinking about going to Newcastle and how we can go up there and get a result.

“We’ll enjoy this one and move on quickly.”
