Aston Villa’s Principal Partner, Cazoo, have launched a new initiative which will see the online car retailer donate £1,000 to the Aston Villa Foundation for every Premier League goal scored by the first team this season.

Cazoo’s ‘Golden Goals’ charitable pledge has already seen the Foundation benefit from the new initiative, with Ezri Konsa’s goal securing a 1-0 win over Sheffield United on Monday night – and a tidy cash injection for the Foundation’s coffers.

The donations will help the Foundation and their work in the local area as well as the wider Birmingham community, an endeavour which Cazoo immediately identified as one they wanted to support when they became Principal Partners at the end of last season.

Guy Rippon, Head of Foundation & Community said: “We are very grateful for the support of Cazoo with the ‘Golden Goals’ initiative. Cazoo has shown a clear commitment to supporting the local community and helping others and the ‘Golden Goals’ scheme will allow us to be able to react over the course of the season to support priority groups and help to tackle societal issues across Birmingham.

“The Aston Villa Foundation delivers the community and social responsibility work of Aston Villa Football Club and the partnership with Cazoo will also see both organisations work on a series of Corporate Social Responsibility and employee engagement initiatives.”

Alex Chesterman OBE, Founder & CEO of Cazoo said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Aston Villa Foundation, a great charity that delivers essential projects and provides opportunities to people in the local communities around Birmingham. It’s going to be an exciting season and we look forward to the goals that will continue to help the Foundation with their incredible work in and around the community.”

Ezri Konsa, whose goal on Monday secured a first donation for the Foundation, added: “I’m delighted to have played a part in this initiative. Hopefully the Foundation will benefit from it across the whole season.”
