Shania Hayles insists there is ‘definitely more to come’ from her this season.
The 20-year-old forward played the full 90 minutes in our Conti Cup win over Sheffield United last week, and feels it is now just a matter of kicking on.
“I was happy to get my first start of the season” said Hayles.
“I enjoyed the game and I think I had a good performance.
“Happy we got our first win too!
“But definitely more to come from me this season!"
Despite getting that first win of the new season under their belts, Villa’s momentum has been halted, somewhat, by the positive COVID-19 test within the camp.
The news means our Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixtures versus Bristol City and Chelsea have been postponed until a later date, but Hayles remains optimistic that Villa can pick up right where they left off upon their return to action.
“It was definitely unexpected” Hayles said of the pause in play.
“It’s a shame as we were looking forward to playing Bristol City at the weekend, especially coming off the back of our first win!
“But the girls that are training are working hard on the pitch and the girls isolating are also working hard doing their sessions at home.
“When we come back together, we can hit the ground running!”
Hayles’ refuses to dwell on what could’ve been against Bristol City, and instead has rallied the rest of the Villa team to look at taking maximum points from the next two fixtures…
“It was a shame for this to happen right now because we had momentum going into Bristol” conceded Hayles.
“Regardless, we will give 100% when everyone is back together as a team and try our best to take three points in the Coventry game and then go into Brighton in high spirits!”
