Trezeguet returned to Aston Villa’s starting XI as Dean Smith made just one change for Sunday night’s Premier League clash at Arsenal (ko 7.15pm).

The Egypt international was recalled in place of Bertrand Traore, who was ruled out of the Emirates Stadium encounter due to the injury sustained in the first half of last weekend’s defeat to Southampton.

Trezeguet's first-half strike secured a crucial 1-0 triumph over the Gunners in the most-recent clash between the two sides in late July, coming in the club's penultimate game of last season.

Neil Taylor and Anwar El Ghazi returned to the bench in north London as Villa look to get back on track following two successive losses.

Goalkeeper Emi Martinez starts for the Villans between the sticks, making his first return to Arsenal since his summer switch following 10 years with the Gunners.

Villa: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett, Luiz, McGinn, Trezeguet, Barkley, Grealish (c), Watkins.

Subs: Steer, Taylor, Elmohamady, Nakamba, Hourihane, El Ghazi, Davis.
