Bertrand Traoré and Marvelous Nakamba took another step towards qualification for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with their respective countries on Monday afternoon.
Traoré's Burkina Faso travelled to Malawi for the fourth game of their qualifying campaign, looking to maintain their unbeaten start.
The Villa forward started and played the full 90 minutes in a goalless draw, which keeps Burkina Faso at the top of Group B with two wins and two draws from their four games.
Zimbabwe and Nakamba faced a difficult test against an Algeria side captained by Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez at the National Sports Centre in Harare.
Like Traoré, Nakamba was named in the starting XI and completed the full game, with Zimbabwe producing a battling comeback to earn a point.
Goals from Andy Delort and Mahrez gave Algeria a 2-0 lead, but the hosts pulled a goal back moments before the break through Knowledge Musona.
Zimbabwe continued to fight back in the second half and Prince Dube got their equaliser with eight minutes left to play.
The result keeps Zimbabwe in the second qualification spot in Group H, but Zambia are two points behind with a game in hand.
