Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings and Aston Villa Women Sporting Director Eni Aluko have been named on the 2020 Football Black List.

The initiative celebrates the most influential black people in British football.

Mings has been recognised for using his platform to challenge racial injustice and is included on the Cyrille Regis Players section of the list, alongside Marcus Rashford, Chloe Morgan, Troy Deeney and Wilfried Zaha.

Aluko became the first Sporting Director of Aston Villa Women earlier this year and is named on the Senior Administration section, joining Edleen John, Jade Morgan, Les Ferdinand and Marie Gabriel.

The Football Black List was founded in 2008 by sports journalists Leon Mann and Rodney Hinds and highlights positive influencers from the black community in football.

Hinds said: “Yet again the Football Black List has unearthed many in the community that are doing great work.

“The efforts of Marcus Rashford deserve acclaim alongside the others on the list who go about their business for the good of others."

Mann added: “The global Black Lives Matter protests has made the game reflect on its own diversity and relationship with Black communities.

“The Football Black List provides a snapshot of the wonderful contribution the Black community makes to the national sport.

"We hope it inspires the next generation of Black leaders to follow those listed and the initiative helps encourage the football industry to put diversity at the top of the agenda – where it needs to be to make much needed progress in this area.”

Congratulations to Tyrone and Eni on the fully deserved recognition.
