Mark Delaney expressed his frustration in seeing his Under-23s lose a third successive home game on Friday evening.
Louie Barry struck twice for Aston Villa, but Fulham scored three goals themselves and took all three points in the Premier League 2 encounter.
Villa had more than enough chances in front of goal to turn the result into a positive one, but ultimately lacked the cutting edge that was needed.
Speaking after the game, Delaney rued those missed chances:
“It was an opportunity missed, I believe" said Delaney.
"The forwards were ok, but when you look at the goals we conceded, you won’t win many games conceding goals like that.
"Really frustrating, and an opportunity missed.”
Delaney re-iterated how important it was for Villa to keep the ball out at the other end, despite the creation of several high-quality efforts in the attacking third.
“The (goals) we’ve conceded" he said.
"We did create other chances, but I’d put it more down to lapses in concentration.
"They were ahead of us all game.
"We were always chasing the game, they managed the game really well and frustrated us.
"More down to lacking in concentration.”
Mark Delaney's group continue their Premier League 2 campaign on Sunday December 13th, when they take on Leeds United at Thorp Arch Grange.
