Kortney Hause is keen to add more goals to his game having registered his third for Aston Villa in the Boxing Day triumph over Crystal Palace.

The centre-back was quick to follow up and nod the ball over the line after Ollie Watkins’ header had rebounded off the crossbar, sending 10-man Villa into a crucial 2-0 lead.

Anwar El Ghazi added a third shortly afterwards to put the gloss on a fantastic team performance from Dean Smith’s side, who were set on their way by Bertrand Traore’s early finish.

Hause, who felt it was a fully deserved victory, was making his third successive start of the campaign and impressed at the heart of the rearguard once more as Villa kept a fourth clean sheet in a row.

It was the third time Hause, 25, has found the net in Villa colours, coming after his goal at home to Chelsea last season and effort away to Nottingham Forest in 2018/19.

And he admits he is keen to get his name on the scoresheet more often.

“It’s something I want to add to my game,” he told VillaTV.

“I want to be as solid as possible defending but I also want to chip in and help the team with scoring goals.

“I did that here and I’m happy, I just want to continue to be a threat in both boxes.”
