At a Glance
Aston Villa Women begin their debut season in the Women's Super League on Saturday, hoping to make the best start possible against tough opposition.
Gemma Davies' side waltzed their way to the Women's Championship title in 2019/20, winning 13 of 14 league games before the season was curtailed due to COVID-19.
While the competition will inevitably be tougher this time around, Davies & co. will be aiming to take their winning mindset into the top flight, ensuring they are a force to be reckoned with.

Manchester City, meanwhile, come into the 2020/21 season having narrowly missed out on the Super League title to Chelsea. The Citizens were top of the table at the point of curtailment, but had a slightly lower points-per-game average than the Blues.
City appear poised to challenge for the title once again, bringing in Chloe Kelly from Everton, as well as experienced United States internationals Sam Mewis and Rose Lavelle.
Standout Stats
At the mere age of 28, Gemma Davies will become the youngest manager in Women's Super League history on Saturday.

“Manchester City are a wonderful football team, we are looking forward to the challenge.
“But I think it’s important we play the game, as cliché as it is, and not the occasion that surrounds it.”

“Man City at Villa Park – what an opener for us.
“Being on national TV as well, is a great start for us, very exciting and a great opportunity that we’ll be playing at Villa Park.
“Playing City in the first game of the season will be a tough challenge but I think we’re ready for that.
“We want that kind of challenge now and that competition.
“In this league, every week you have to be at that level now, you have to compete against that level, I think it’s great for us to get up there as quickly as possible.
