Tyrone Mings believes that Aston Villa’s attitude was a major factor as Dean Smith’s side secured safety on the final day of the Premier League season.
With four games to play, Villa were seven points adrift but a run of two wins and two draws – ending with a crucial point at West Ham United - ensured another season in the top-flight.
Mings admitted that it’s been a difficult campaign but ultimately, he feels that Villa got exactly what they deserved.

He said: “It’s been a tough season, at times it looked very difficult and like we weren’t going to get out of it.
“We went into lockdown after a 4-0 defeat at Leicester and until we played Arsenal on Tuesday night, we had a hell of a long way to go.
“Today was never going to be easy, to have such a high against Arsenal and have to lift ourselves again, with what was on the line.
“Credit to the lads, the attitude that we have shown has been incredible so it’s a well-deserved end to the season.”
Jack Grealish scored the decisive goal at the London Stadium and Mings saw similarities with one of his most memorable strikes as Villa won promotion to the Premier League last season.

“It was reminiscent of Birmingham at St Andrew’s last season, when you big players need to step up, they usually do,” he explained.
“He’s been a credit to the football club all season, he’s our captain and most talented player, he’s done it all season for us.
“He’s a tremendous player.”
