Our School Sport and Education team at the Aston Villa Foundation provide education provisions to primary schools across Birmingham. The aim for our programme is to enrich a school’s curriculum through supporting teachers and inspiring children by using the power of football and Aston Villa to unlock learning potential in unique ways.
We aim to engage and inspire children in everything from numeracy and literacy, to wellbeing, growth mindsets, physical education, PSHE, STEM Education, enterprise and social action.
Our tailored and bespoke lesson plans, designed by skilled educators and qualified teachers, align to the National Curriculum, bringing innovative and exciting learning to life, with Aston Villa acting as the hook for learning.
Premier League Primary Stars
Premier League Primary Stars is the Premier League's primary school education programme. Funded by the Premier League through the Premier League Charitable Fund, the programme uses the appeal of football to help children be active and develop essential life skills.
Launched in 2017, and available to every primary school in England and Wales, the Aston Villa Foundation is one of more than 100 professional football club community organisations across England and Wales delivering Premier League Primary Stars, supporting pupils in the classroom, the playground and on the sports field. More than 18 million children have benefited from the national programme to date.
Our programme delivery can be utilised to support your school with your whole school improvement plan objectives and embedded within your curriculum as you see best to maximise impact with your pupils and teachers.
School Sport and Continued Professional Development
We deliver a wide variety of physical education lessons and CPD to pupils and teachers, aligning to each schools' long-term sports plan.
Our full-day package consists of a School Sport Educator delivering Physical Education provision for a whole school day. Our half-day package consists of a School Sport Educator delivering Physical Education provision for 2-3 consecutive hours per day.
We also offer extra-curricular delivery (breakfast, lunch and after school clubs), as part of Full or Half Day packages.
We also support teachers by enhancing their skills, confidence and knowledge to deliver high-quality PE in-action with their class and in their own environment.
The programme is made bespoke to the identified teachers needs and motivations, with the delivery designed to allow opportunities for teachers to observe, support, team-teach and lead deliver.
Education Events
Our education events can be delivered direct to your school face-to-face or streamed virtually into classrooms, as well as various opportunities for schools to utilise Villa Park and Aston Villa’s Inner City Academy. Our Foundation Takeover Day’s support schools with their enrichment and collapsed curriculum days across the academic year.
Each academic year we deliver PSHE themed events on No Room for Racism, Anti-Bullying, Equality and Diversity and Growth Mindsets.
We also host a variety of events and festivals, such as Sustainability initiatives, Creative Writing and Numbers through Football to support schools with a different approach to motivating their pupils in literacy, numeracy and wider global issues.
