  1. This Competition is open to any person aged 18 or over and resident in the United Kingdom or South Africa at the time of entry. 

Employees of Aston Villa or Trade Nation (or any affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising or promotion agencies) are not eligible to enter, nor are members of these employees’ families (defined as parents, children, siblings, spouse and life partners). 

  1. HOW TO ENTER. The Competition may be entered via the landing page at: https://www.avfc.co.uk/partners/trade-nation. This page may be accessed directly or by entrants clicking on the links made available on Aston Villa or Trade Nation operated social media platforms and/or marketing emails sent to such entrant as a result of them having opted in, or otherwise being eligible under applicable direct marketing laws, to receive such marketing communications. 

No purchase necessary. Internet access required. To enter, you must provide certain contact details (including phone number and/or email address) and predict the total number of points that the Aston Villa men and women’s first teams will accumulate throughout that particular month. For each match, 3 points will be awarded for a win, 1 point will be awarded for a draw and 0 points will be rewarded if the team loses.

You may only enter once per Month (as defined below). You may, however, enter each Month such that the maximum number of entries you may make throughout the Competition Period is seven. By entering each Month you will increase your chance of winning the Grand Prize (as defined in paragraph 6 below). 

Anyone trying to circumvent this rule by using alternative details will be disqualified from the Competition. Entries (bulk or otherwise) made from trade, consumer groups or third parties will not be accepted. If it becomes apparent that a participant is using a computer(s) to circumvent this provision by, for example, the use of ‘script’, ‘brute force’ or any other automated means, that person’s entries will be disqualified and any prize award will be forfeited. 

Entry constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Conditions including the Aston Villa Match Ticket Conditions of Issue (available at: https://tickets.avfc.co.uk/screenloader.aspx?type=include&page=usercontent/documents/html/tandc.html#matchtickets_ and the Aston Villa Ground Regulations (available at: https://www.avfc.co.uk/fans/fans-charter/ground-regulations). Aston Villa is not responsible for lost, corrupted or delayed entries. These Terms and Conditions prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials. Aston Villa reserves the right to verify all entries and the winner(s) and to refuse to award any Prize or withdraw any Prize and/or disqualify anyone who it believes has violated these Terms and Conditions.

  1. COMPETITION PERIOD. The Competition Period in which entries can be made is 10:00am BST on 3rd October 2023 to 00:00 on 27th April 2024 (subject to fixture changes). The Competition Period is divided into seven time periods (“Months”) as follows:
  • 3 October to 28 October; 
  • 28 October to 25 November;
  • 1 December to 29 December;
  • 1 January to 29 January;
  • 1 February to 23 February;
  • 1 March to 29 March; and
  • 1 April to 27 April. 

 

Each Month, the ability to enter will end at 00:00 UK time (i.e., BST or GMT as applicable) on the day of the last game played that Month (currently scheduled as per the above dates). Thus, the first Month will end at 00:00 BST on 28 October, the second Month at 00:00 GMT on 25 November and so on. Please refer to https://www.avfc.co.uk/matches/ for an up-to-date fixture list and any changes to the end of each Month as a result. 

 

  1. SELECTION OF THE WINNERS. All valid entries must be submitted as per the rules in the “How To Enter” section.

There is a limit of one Prize per person per Month, with the exception of the Grand Prize (as defined in paragraph 6 below which may be won by a winner of a previous Prize). In the event that the same person is selected as the winner for more than one Prize, Aston Villa will select an alternative winner. 

The winner of each Prize will be selected randomly by an independent accountant/auditor or lawyer Aston Villa on the first working day after the final match of the relevant Month with such winner being drawn from all entries made during that Month.  

Each winner will be notified (which may be via a public announcement on Aston Villa’s website, social media channels or other relevant channel) on the first working day after the final match of the relevant Month and asked to message Aston Villa with further contact details (if necessary). If a potential winner of a Prize has not confirmed receipt of the notification within 24 hours of the notification being sent, or is not eligible to enter the Competition or receive the Prize (for any reason), Aston Villa reserves the right to either (i) select an alternative winner on the same basis as described above (who will be given a reasonable deadline to respond); or (ii) not award the Prize. 

The winners may be asked to provide identification and proof of address proving their eligibility before they are entitled to receive the Prize. Winners may be required to participate in further publicity or advertising. Winners will be responsible for ensuring that they hold valid travel documents and where applicable do not breach the terms of such documents. 

Unless otherwise agreed, Prizes will be delivered to each winner by post or courier (and, in the case of South Africa, courier only). Aston Villa will not be liable if the Prize cannot be taken by a winner for any reason beyond its control, including if a winner fails to provide the correct contact details when entering and/or does not leave appropriate delivery instructions or provide his or her correct address. 

Accepting the Prize constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Notwithstanding this, if a winner does not confirm agreement and acceptance of these Terms and Conditions, Aston Villa reserves the right to withdraw the Prize and select an alternative winner on the same basis as described above. 

  1. USE OF YOUR ENTRY. Your personal data will be used by Aston Villa and / or its agents (which include Aston Villa Football Club Limited) acting on Aston Villa’s behalf only for the operation of this Competition. If you are a winner of the Competition you agree that Aston Villa may use your name and town or county of residence to announce the winner of this Competition.
  2. PRIZES. The Prizes on offer for each of the first seven Months are as follows:
  • 3 October to 27 April inclusive –  Subject to matches being played (in general and/or behind closed doors), the Prize that each winner receives will be selected by Aston Villa at its sole discretion in accordance with the random prize draw:
  • Two general admission tickets to each men’s first team fixture during the following Month (one winner);
  • Two general admission tickets to each women’s first team fixture during the following Month (four winners). Please note this this Prize will not be available in January;
  • One shirt signed by selected Aston Villa men’s first team players, such players to be determined by Aston Villa at its sole discretion (one winner);
  • One shirt signed by selected Aston Villa women’s first team players, such players to be determined by Aston Villa at its sole discretion (one winner)
  • One unsigned Aston Villa men’s shirt (one winner); and
  • One unsigned Aston Villa women’s shirt (one winner).

 

The Club and partner have the right to add bonus additional prizes during the term of the competition in addition to the above listed.

 

After the draw in April, all entrants (including any entrants who have won a Prize to date) will then be entered into the prize draw for the following top prize (the “Grand Prize”). The prize draw for the Grand Prize will take place on Monday 29 April with one winner eligible to win the following:

 

  • An “Ultimate Villa Experience” for the winner and 1 guest in May on dates determined by the Club at sole discretion. To include:

 

  • a luxury stay at The Belfry; 
  • a behind the scenes stadium tour;
  • matchday hospitality;
  • tour and pitchside access for team warm up at selected match;
  • Aston Villa goodie bag;
  • Two shirts signed by selected Aston Villa players; and
  • Return flights from (major) airports and /or train tickets will be provided from the closest major home airport to Birmingham and reasonable local transport during and in relation to the experience will also be provided.

Prizes are as stated and are not transferable. No cash alternatives available. Aston Villa reserves the right to substitute any Prize with a Prize of equal or greater value.

The participation in the Competition and the attendance at any match won via any prize will be subject to the following additional terms:

  • If any of the winners are unable to attend the selected match (including where the match date and / or time is rescheduled), then Aston Villa is not liable to provide a replacement match or offer an alternative Prize to the winner(s) (though Aston Villa may, in its discretion, determine to do so).
  • The matches are scheduled to take place at either (i) Aston Villa’s Stadium at Villa Park, Birmingham, B6 6HE; or (ii) Walsall Bescot Stadium, Bescot Crescent, Walsall WS1 4SA.
  • For October to April winners, the winners and their guests are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from each match. 
  • For the Grand Prize, travel and transportation costs will be covered up to a maximum cost of £5,000 (five thousand pounds). The winner and their guests will also have their accommodation costs paid for (at a maximum cost of £2,000 (two thousand pounds)), staying at The Belfry (or other equivalent hotel) on a B&B basis with the current dates being scheduled from Wednesday 8th May to Monday 13th May.
  • All winners and their guests must have valid passports and/or visas and/or other valid requirements to be able to travel to and within the UK to each match.  
  • The Prize is personal to each winner and only permits each winner and their guest to attend the match. Guests may be under the age of 18, provided they do so with the consent of their guardian and are accompanied by a responsible adult who must be the winner.
  • The match general admission tickets for all matches other than the Grand Prize winner (who will be in hospitality) will be in the designated ‘home supporter’ area of the Stadium. The winners and their guests must be either Aston Villa supporters or neutral supporters and must not be supporters of the opposition team. 
  • The winners and their guests are not permitted to wear opposition colours or wear / carry branded merchandise of the opposition or any other football team. 
  • The participation in the competition and attendance at any Aston Villa match is subject to complying with the following additional requirements:
  • The winner is responsible for the actions of their guests and ensuring that their guests comply with these terms and conditions.
  • Aston Villa reserves the right to refuse entry to and / or eject from the Stadium any person (winner or guest):
    • who is at the time of the match, subject to a ban from attending Aston Villa events or otherwise subject to a football banning order (or similar sanction which would prevent them from attending a football match or other event at Villa Park) are not eligible to enter this Competition;
    • whose behaviour, is not, in Aston Villa’s reasonable opinion, of the standard expected for persons attending a match;
    • who does not comply with these Terms and Conditions, the Match Ticket Conditions of Issue, the Ground Regulations or the additional requirements of use of any hospitality suites at Villa Park. 

Prizes may be considered as a taxable benefit to the winner. The winner will be directly responsible for accounting for and paying to HMRC, or other relevant tax authority, any tax liability arising on their prize. Please contact marketingteam@avfc.co.uk for any query related to the taxable amount for reporting to HMRC, or other relevant tax authority.

  1. WINNER LIST. The winner must provide, and consents to his/her surname and county of residence being made publicly available upon request. Each winners’ name will be available for a period of 28 days after the selection of the winner by written request to marketingteam@avfc.co.uk. Winners will be sent a consent form to participate in filming/photography of the Ultimate Villa Experience.
  2. OTHER. No correspondence will be entered into regarding either this Competition or these Terms and Conditions. In the unlikely event of a dispute, Aston Villa’s decision shall be final. Aston Villa reserves the right to amend, modify, cancel or withdraw this Competition at any time but only before the delivery of any prize, without notice.

Participants in this Competition agree that Aston Villa will have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, costs, damage, disappointment or losses of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly from acceptance, misuse or use of a prize, or from participation in this Competition. Nothing in this clause shall limit Aston Villa’s liability in respect of death or personal injury arising out of its own negligence or liability arising out of Aston Villa’s fraud.

Aston Villa cannot guarantee the performance of any third party and shall not be liable for any act or default by a third party. 

Insofar as is permitted by law, Aston Villa, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of Aston Villa, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

  1. SPIRIT OF THE COMPETITION. If an entrant attempts to compromise the integrity or the legitimate operation of this Competition by hacking or by cheating or committing fraud in ANY way, we may seek damages from that entrant to the fullest extent permitted by law. Further, we may, in our absolute discretion, disqualify that entrant’s entry to this Competition and may ban the entrant from participating in any of our future promotions, so please play fairly. 

Aston Villa cannot guarantee the performance of any third party and shall not be liable for any act or default by a third party. Participants in this Competition agree that Aston Villa will have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, costs, damage or disappointment of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly from acceptance, misuse or use of a Prize, or from participation in this Competition. Nothing in this clause shall limit Aston Villa’s liability in respect of death or personal injury arising out of its own negligence or arising out of fraud.
