Sports Coach – Female Sessions
(Minimum of six hours per week)
We currently have a vacancy for a Sports Coach to deliver sports sessions as part of the Aston Villa Kicks and Girls Football programme; working under, and reporting to the Social Inclusion Officer and Sports Participation Officer for the Club’s charity, Aston Villa Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- To plan, deliver and monitor a co-ordinated programme of high quality, professional coaching activities which are progressive and reflective of the needs of young people
- The coaching programme should link school, community and club provision and aim to provide increased opportunities to retain young people in sports/activities
- To assist in the development of participant health, fitness, sporting proficiency and educational attainment through a structured programme methodology
- To be responsible for the supervision of participants during sessions
- Adapting to the needs and interests of the group or individual participant to ensure participants are provided with an enjoyable and learning focused experience
- To carry out monitoring and evaluation duties as necessary e.g. maintain legible, accurate attendance registers, session notes, accident forms and other administrative material collected at sessions
- To consistently display high personal standards and professionalism to project a favourable image of the Aston Villa Foundation and Aston Villa Football Club to service users, partners, other coaches and to members of the public
- To be a positive role model for young people, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage sustained participation in sport or physical activity and attendance at sessions
- To support work with partner organisations to ensure that young people are retained in sport through positive engagement and high quality session delivery
- To recognise and raise awareness of signposting young people for their own progression to sports clubs or specialised partners/services
- To attend regular meetings with management (Social Inclusion Officer/Head of Foundation) and key partners as and when necessary
Key skills and experience required
- Demonstration of multi-sport skills and qualifications are preferred
- Proven experience in organising, planning delivering and evaluating sporting activities in a structured environment
- Qualified to a minimum level 2 or higher award in sport/activity leadership
- Up to date Emergency Aid certificate
- Knowledge of child protection legislation including safeguarding and best practice in sport education
- Proven experience coaching young people in a sports/activity setting
- Experience of organising sports competitions
