Paul Lambert was purring over Ashley Westwood's performance in the win at Liverpool.
Lambert was thrilled with the industry, tactical nous and energy of the No.15, who really starred in the central ground alongside Tom Cleverley and Fabian Delph.
Villa boss Lambert has always been an admirer of Westwood due to his easy-on-the-eye football ability - particularly his effortless charisma in possession.
But the manager was keen to hail the 24-year-old after an almost-faultless display on Merseyside.
He said: "Westy is a really clever player.
"In the two years I have been here, he has been so consistent.
"He's a lad who probably doesn't get talked about because he makes the game look so easy.
"Him, Fabian and Tom were outstanding I thought.
"Tom, for his first game coming in, was brilliant. Delph is just getting better. And Westwood is just one of the unsung players at the football club. He's been outstanding.
"He makes everything look so simple. He does the easy things brilliantly.
"What I mean by that is he can pass a two-yard ball and never give it away - some people don't want to do that.
"I just thought he was brilliant. For what I got him for, he's certainly worth that, that's for sure."
