There's a doubled-edged treat for supporters who pick up a programme at our New Year Bank Holiday game against Swansea City.

We revert to our free giant pull-out posters for this latest issue - and it's one which should appeal to fans of all ages.

On one side there's Brad Guzan, the American keeper who has made such an impression during the last few games.

And on the other we have a giant colour team photo of the Villa squad who won the European Cup in 1982.

It seemed the perfect way to celebrate the start of 2012, a year which marks the 30th anniversary of our triumph over Bayern Munich, so be sure not to miss this superb souvenir.

But the free poster isn't the only reason for getting your hands on a copy of the Villa News & Record.

The Swansea issue includes a month-by-month resume of significant Villa moments during 2011, while former striker Stan Collymore presents his New Year's Honours List.

We also salute Marc Albrighton's achievement in scoring the Premier League's 20,000th goal, while programme editor Rob Bishop makes a few team changes to the line-up selected for the Villa Greatest Premier League XI DVD.

Singer Tom Tyler, meanwhile, reveals his favourite Villan.

The man is question was a Shooting Star - which just happens to be the title of Tom's single.

Then there are regular columns by manager Alex McLeish and skipper Stiliyan Petrov, fun and puzzles for younger fans - and a special feature on the President of the Methodist Conference.

When he's not in church, Leo Osborn is devoted to the claret and blue cause - and he the proud owner of every single copy of the Villa News & Record since its launch more than a century ago.

We also have part two of The Saunders Sessions - a fascinating question-and-answer session with Ron Saunders, the most successful manager in our history.

Be sure not to miss your copy.

At just £3, the Villa News & Record is an essential part of your matchday experience.
