If you thought the fun started at 3pm on the day of the Blackburn win - you'd be very wrong.

Villa held a family fun day for the kids before kick-off and it was an exciting event, with a host of superb stalls stacked around the Indoor Academy.

Villa fans turned up in their droves from 12noon as their children ran from activity to activity ahead of the enormous encounter with Steve Kean's men.

First team stars Chris Herd and Eric Lichaj, not on duty against Rovers, also popped in to spread the cheer before the big Villa Park clash.

Visitors to the stadium enjoyed some ace activities.

There was giant beachball dribbling, which had everyone in stitches, an inflatable assault course, computer beach sports on a giant screen and hook a duck.

Then there was frisbee disc golf, ball in the bucket challenge and football games such as a speed cage and target wall.

Then to really get the kids ready for the battle ahead, there was the usual face painting, with claret and blue featuring prominently around the stadium before, during and after the game.

There were also new activities introduced and they went down brilliantly with the claret and blue faithful.

Fans could test their balance against the waves with the Surf Simulator - some did brilliantly, others clearly not so good - and there was the return of the velcro wall.

Watch out for news of upcoming family fun days as the season continues apace.
