Aston Villa announced the signing of Lucy Staniforth in January 2023.

The York-born attacker signed an 18-month deal following her departure from Manchester United.

Staniforth is an experienced player having spent time with Sunderland, Lincoln, Bristol City, Liverpool and Birmingham City before joining United in 2020.

The 32-year-old has also earned 17 senior caps with the Lionesses as well as netting two goals for her country.

Staniforth soon settled into life in B2 as she featured 17 times in all competitions during the second-half of her debut season.

She also got off the mark in the claret and blue after only a month as a Villan as she netted the side's first goal in their 6-2 triumph over Brighton & Hove Albion.
