Bio
Ollie Watkins has been Aston Villa's talisman since joining from Brentford, becoming the club's record Premier League goalscorer in May 2025.
The striker clinched a 1-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth to take his tally for the club to 75 goals, in 182 league appearances, moving ahead of Gabby Agbonlahor’s 74 in claret and blue.
Watkins joined Villa in September 2020 and has registered double figures in each top-flight campaign at the club.
He opened his league account for Villa with a hat-trick in our memorable 7-2 triumph over Liverpool in October 2020, ending his maiden season with 14 goals.
The England international completed the 2021/22 campaign with 11 league goals, before registering a total of 15 in the subsequent season.
Watkins duly signed a new, long-term contract with the club in October 2023.
And his most prolific league tally to date came in 2023/24 as his 19 league goals helped fired Unai Emery’s side to a fourth-placed finish and secure UEFA Champions League football.
A host of awards and recognition followed in May 2024 as he was named Supporters’ Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season, as well as earning the Premier League’s Playmaker of the Season award and being nominated for the Premier League's Player of the Season.
Watkins was later shortlisted for the 2023/24 PFA Players' Player of the Year, named in the PFA Team of the Year and also nominated for The Best FIFA Men's 11 Award.
On the international scene, his fine form earned him a first England cap against San Marino in March 2021, marking his senior debut with a goal.
The forward's most memorable moment in a Three Lions shirt thus far came at Euro 2024, when his last-minute semi-final winner against the Netherlands dramatically booked Gareth Southgate's side a place in the final of the European Championship.
