Youri Tielemans will be assessed ahead of Aston Villa’s final Premier League clash of the season at Manchester United, while Jacob Ramsey returns to contention for the trip to Old Trafford.
Tielemans, this week voted Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Season, has been sidelined for the past two matches due to injury.
But he trained with his team-mates on Friday and, should he come through Saturday’s session without any issues, will be in the matchday squad to face United.
Fellow midfielder Ramsey missed last weekend’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur as he served a one-match suspension following his red card at AFC Bournemouth.
He now returns to Unai Emery’s ranks for our season finale, although on-loan Marcus Rashford, absent in recent weeks due to injury, is ineligible to face his parent club.
Manager Emery provided a fitness update on Tielemans at Friday afternoon’s pre-match media conference.
“He trained today, the first day he’s trained with the group,” said the Villa boss.
“Tomorrow we’ll train again.
“If he’s feeling good, comfortable and, more or less, without some doubt, he’ll be with the team in the squad for Sunday.”
