Ollie Watkins is Aston Villa’s all-time Premier League leading goalscorer – it’s official!

The striker applied a deft touch to superbly finish Morgan Rogers' low cross into the penalty area deep into injury time during the first half of our clash at AFC Bournemouth, proving the difference in Saturday evening's 1-0 victory at Vitality Stadium.

It took Watkins’ tally for the club to 75 goals, in 182 league appearances, moving ahead of Gabby Agbonlahor’s 74 in claret and blue.

The 29-year-old, who also has 33 league assists to his name, joined Villa in September 2020 and has registered double figures in each top-flight campaign at the club.

Watkins opened his league account for Villa with a hat-trick in our memorable 7-2 triumph over Liverpool in October 2020, ending his maiden season with 14 goals.

The England international completed the 2021/22 campaign with 11 league goals, before registering a total of 15 in the subsequent season.

Watkins’ most prolific league tally to date came in 2023/24 as his 19 league goals helped fired Unai Emery’s side to a fourth-placed finish.

His 15th strike of the current campaign at home to Newcastle United in mid-April drew Watkins level with Agbonlahor’s record, before moving clear on his own with his goal against the Cherries.

Congratulations, Ollie!
