Aston Villa will be looking to add a fifth FA Youth Cup crown to their trophy cabinet on Monday afternoon, taking on Manchester City in the final at Villa Park.

Jimmy Shan's Young Lions have enjoyed a successful campaign in the competition thus far this season, and stand just one win away from lifting the trophy for the first time since 2021 in B6.

Having first won the Youth Cup back in 1972, Villa have gone on to lift the trophy on a further three occasions, winning the prestigious competition again in 1980, 2002 and most recently four years ago, as well as finishing as runners up in 1978 and 2004.

Here, we take a look at our four previous successes in the FA Youth Cup...

1972 - Youth Cup winners for the first time

Aston Villa are crowned FA Youth Cup Champions for the first time

Villa's first FA Youth Cup win came way back in 1972, with a 5-2 aggregate victory over Liverpool.

A 1-0 triumph in the first leg was followed by a thrilling 4-2 second leg victory for a Villa side with John Gidman and Brian Little, against a Reds outfit with a young Phil Thompson among their ranks.

1980 - A second Youth Cup crown

Eight years on, the Villans had their second Youth Cup title, with victory over Manchester City.

A commanding 3-1 win in the first leg gave Villa a healthy advantage against the Cityzens, meaning a 1-0 defeat in the second leg still ensured they lifted the trophy.

Villa's side included the likes of future fan favourites Paul Birch and Mark Walters, while City had Clive Wilson, Gary Bennett, Tommy Caton and Steve MacKenzie in their ranks.

2002 - Champions again, for the first time in 22 years

The Villans had to wait another 22 years before lifting the FA Youth Cup again, this time with a 4-2 victory over two legs against Everton.

Wayne Rooney gave the Toffees the lead at Goodison Park in the first leg, his eighth goal of the Youth Cup run, before two goals from Villa captain Stefan Moore spun the tie on its head.

Further goals from Peter Hynes and Stefan Moore's younger brother, Luke, gave the Villans a healthy advantage to take back to Villa Park for the second leg, where Scott Brown's solitary strike wasn't enough for the Blues to stop Villa from lifting the trophy.

Liam Ridgewell, Steven Davis and the late Peter Whittingham were among those in the Villans' squad.

2021 - Lifting the trophy for the fourth time, four years ago

Villa's fourth and most recent FA Youth Cup triumph came four years ago, in 2021.

The final was Villa's first of the single-legged era, and was again played at Villa Park in front of over 4,000 people against Liverpool.

Early goals from Ben Chrisene and Brad Young put Sean Verity's side 2-0 to the good inside the opening 12 minutes, before Melkamu Frauendorf's strike 16 minutes from time made for a nervy finish.

But the hosts held on to secure a fourth title in the competition, having already recorded emphatic victories over Reading, Brighton & Hove Albion, Burton Albion, Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion on their way to the final.

The side included the likes of current Villans Sil Swinkels, Lamare Bogarde, Oli Zych, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Louie Barry and Filip Marschall and Tommi O'Reilly, as well as former Villans Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Ramsey, with Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah and Tyler Morton among the Reds' ranks.
