Aston Villa have been drawn away to Preston North End in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Unai Emery’s side, having previously seen off West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, triumphed 2-0 over Cardiff City in Friday’s fifth-round tie at Villa Park, Marco Asensio bagging a brace.

The victory secured Villa’s spot in the last eight of the competition for the first time since 2015.

Preston, currently 15th in the Championship, booked their place in the quarter-finals courtesy of a 3-0 victory over local rivals Burnley, which followed wins over Wycombe Wanderers and Charlton Athletic in earlier rounds.

The two sides last faced each other in the second tier in 2018, with their most recent FA Cup meeting coming in 1967.

And, following Sunday night’s draw, they will now go head-to-head at Deepdale for a place in the semi-finals of the competition at Wembley.

Quarter-final ties are scheduled to take place across the weekend of March 29-30.

Full details for the FA Cup fixture, including a confirmed date and kick-off time as well as ticketing information, will be announced in due course.
