La mejor racha del Aston Villa en la FA Cup desde 2015 continuó el viernes por la noche cuando el equipo de Unai Emery superó al Cardiff City.

El equipo de la Championship fue oponente difícil en Villa Park, manteniendo el partido sin goles durante 68 minutos.

Marco Asensio abrió el marcador para el Villa antes de anotar su segundo de la noche para pasar a los cuartos de final.

Antes del inicio, la afición de ambos equipos rindió un emotivo homenaje a nuestro ex centrocampista Peter Whittingham, con los clubes enfrentándose por primera vez en un partido competitivo desde su fallecimiento.

El partido también fue especial por el regreso de Anwar El Ghazi y Callum Robinson, quienes presentaron para los Bluebirds.
