Aston Villa is pleased to announce that Thierry Katsukunya has signed a new contract with the club.

The 19-year-old defender was a mainstay for Villa’s Under-21s side last season, making 16 appearances in Premier League 2 while also featuring heavily in the UEFA Youth League and Vertu Trophy.

Katsukunya joined the Villans from Coventry City in November 2021, signing a scholarship with the club in July 2022 and penning his first professional contract just two months later.

An age-group international for Wales, he made his debut for his nation’s Under-21s outfit in March this year, in a 1-0 win over Andorra.

Academy Manager Mark Harrison said: “Thierry has signed a new contract after being a regular in our Under-21s squad last season.

“Theirry was involved in both our cup runs in the UEFA Youth League and Vertu Trophy. He is a competitive, athletic centre-back who has also been involved with Wales Under-21s.

“We pleased to see Thierry sign a new contract and look forward to seeing how he develops this season with the possibility of going out on loan.”

Congratulations, Thierry!
