Morgan Rogers has been crowned Aston Villa Player of the Month for January 2025.

The midfielder opened the new year in fine form to become the first-ever Villan to win the award in back-to-back months, having also scooped the prize in December 2024.

Four goals and one assist in six outings in all competitions took Rogers level with England teammate Ollie Watkins for goals this season (11), with his seasonal tally of 17 goal contributions leaving him only behind the striker - who has 21 - for Unai Emery's side this campaign.

Having missed Villa's opening game of 2025 against Leicester through suspension, the 22-year-old began his year with a bang, netting the winner against West Ham United in the third round of the FA Cup as the club's 150th anniversary was celebrated at Villa Park.

Five days later, he provided the assist for Watkins' solitary strike in a 1-0 win at Everton, with 90 minutes at the Emirates in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal that weekend, and 86 minutes at Monaco in the Champions League the following week.

Rogers then completed 72 minutes in a Premier League draw at home to West Ham, before stealing the show with a Player of the Match performance in a memorable Champions League victory over Celtic three days later, in the final game of the month.

After his early brace saw him make history by becoming the first player in UEFA Champions League history to score twice in the opening five minutes of a game in the competition, Rogers completed his hat-trick in stoppage time to seal Villa's place in the last 16 of the competition, while becoming just the second Aston Villa player to net a treble in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League after Gary Shaw against Dinamo Bucharest in November 1982.
