Aston Villa have been drawn at home to Cardiff City in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Unai Emery’s side, having previously seen off West Ham United, triumphed 2-1 over Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s fourth-round tie at Villa Park, securing their spot in the last 16 of the world’s oldest domestic cup competition for the first time in 10 years.

The Bluebirds, currently 19th in the Championship, booked their place in the fifth round following a penalty shoot-out success at Stoke City, which came after a 1-0 win at Sheffield United.

The two sides last faced each other in the second tier in 2018, with their most recent FA Cup meeting coming in 1949.

And, following Monday night’s draw, they will now go head-to-head at Villa Park for a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Fifth-round ties are scheduled to take place across the weekend of March 1-2.

Full details for the FA Cup fixture, including a confirmed date and kick-off time as well as ticketing information, will be announced in due course.
