Ollie Watkins is looking forward to what promises to be an exciting day for Aston Villa, when they take on Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Unai Emery will lead his side out under the arch for Villa’s first last four clash in the competition since they reached the final in 2015 this weekend, against a side they are yet to beat in three meetings so far this season.

Watkins discussed the challenge which lies ahead of he and his team-mates, and is relishing a trip to the national stadium for the club.

The England frontman said: “They’re really difficult to play against. Since their manager has come in, they’ve done quite well against us and made it very difficult.

“We’ve definitely got our eye on that, a little bit of revenge.

“But (it’s an) exciting day for the club, all the players, the fans. A trip to Wembley is always nice.”

Watkins and the Villans will be looking put a first trophy in the cabinet since 1996’s League Cup win this season – a goal he admits has been high on the agenda since he arrived in B6, and one which everyone is keen to achieve.

He added: “It’s been so long,” he added.

“There’s been so many good players that have played at this club and you think ‘how haven’t they won anything since then?’

“That’s the goal, since I joined here, is always to win a trophy. I’ve always had that in the back of my mind.

“When you watch cup finals, everyone’s hoping it’s themselves one day.

“It’s very close now, so all us boys are doing all we can to try and make that happen and just enjoy the process along the way.”
