John McGinn, Ollie Watkins and Marco Asensio returned to Aston Villa’s starting XI for their FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace.
The trio were all named in Unai Emery’s line-up for the clash at Wembley, as the Villa manager made three changes from Tuesday’s Premier League trip to Manchester City.
It meant midfielder McGinn wore the captain’s armband for the eagerly-anticipated encounter, the club’s first outing at the national stadium since 2020 and first FA Cup semi-final for 10 years.
Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana were both included among the substitutes having started in midweek, although there was no place in the matchday 20 for Marcus Rashford.
