It was a proud night for Aston Villa's Academy against Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday. 

A youthful Villa squad headed north for their second EFL Trophy match, coming up against a Trotters team with plenty of senior experience.

The visitors took the game to the League One side and went ahead via Trai-Varn Mulley in the first half before Victor Adeboyejo equalised with 11 minutes left.

Oliwier Zych saved two spot kicks in the subsequent penalty shootout to earn Villa a bonus point and keep them top of Northern Section Group D.
