John McGinn earned Scotland's first win of their UEFA Nations League campaign on Friday evening, netting the only goal in a 1-0 triumph over Croatia.

Starting on the bench, McGinn was introduced with 67 minutes on the clock, and needed just 19 minutes to make his mark, guiding home his 19th international goal from inside the area after Ben Doak's cross had been palmed away by Dominik Kotarski.

The win was the Tartan Army's first in Group A1 of the competition, with McGinn's late heriocs taking them level on points with Poland on four. A win against Michał Probierz's side on Monday would mean Scotland could still finish second in the group, should other results go in their favour.

Elsewhere in the Nations League, Kosta Nedeljković played 12 minutes as Serbia secured a late point with a 1-1 draw away at Switzerland in Group A4.

The right-back came on in place of Andrija Živković, before Zeki Amdouni gave the hosts the lead. But Aleksa Terzić was on hand to rescue a share of the spoils for Dragan Stojković's side, who will secure second place with a win over Denmark on Monday.

Jaden Philogene

Earlier in the day, there were appearances for both Samuel Iling-Jr and Jaden Philogene for England Under-21s, who drew 0-0 with Spain in Cadiz.

Both wingers started and lasted 78 minutes as the two sides played out a stalemate in an international friendly. The Young Lions face Holland on Monday.

Jhon Durán

And overnight, Jhon Durán started and played 71 minutes for Colombia, as they narrowly lost out 3-2 in a thrilling World Cup Qualifier away to Uruguay.

Juan Fernando Quintero put the visitors in front with a cheeky free-kick just after the half-hour, but a Davinson Sánchez own goal and Rodrigo Aguirre strike spun the tie on its head within four second-half minutes.

Andrés Gómez thought he had stolen a point for Colombia in the sixth minute of added time but Manuel Ugarte struck even deeper into stoppage time to win it for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

The win took Uruguay above Colombia who slip to third in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying Group, ahead of Tuesday's meeting with Ecuador.
