February sees the return of Green Football Weekend, an annual campaign that unites football enthusiasts of all levels, from professional clubs to Sunday league teams in the fight against climate change.

Running from Friday, February 2 to Monday, February 5, Green Football Weekend aims to shed light on the danger climate change poses to the beautiful game.

The 3.5 billion football community have the power to change things like nothing else on planet earth.

Aston Villa Women take on Bristol City at Poundland Bescot Stadium on Green Football Weekend and we will be showing our support to the campaign by teaming up with Save Today, Play Tomorrow, a sustainability programme at Birmingham County FA for numerous activities.

Prior to matchday, you can get involved and score ‘green’ goals for our club to climb the leaderboard. It is simple and all you have to do is make pledges which you can do here.

On matchday, we will host a Q&A at half-time with Save Today, Play Tomorrow representatives to find out more about the programme and how the local community can support the protection of our planet. There will also be a Football Rebooted donation point, so if you have any old football boots lying around, please bring them with you and drop them into the collection box at Main Reception.

Green Football Weekend is a great step we can all take to help the planet and even though football is vulnerable to the effects of climate change, it also holds incredible power to inspire and unite its fans to take action.
