Aston Villa fell to a cruel defeat to Manchester United as Scott McTominay’s late header inflicted a 2-1 reverse.

Rasmus Hojlund’s close-range finish proved the difference at half-time as the hosts couldn’t find the leveller their play deserved at Villa Park.

And they were more than good value for Douglas Luiz’s 67^th-minute equaliser from six yards as a high-tempo Premier League clash flowed in pulsating fashion.

But, despite their dominance, it was the Villans who were undone by substitute McTominay’s header in the latter stages.
