Morgan Rogers says his move to Aston Villa is a “dream come true” as he relishes the prospect of Premier League and European football.

The 21-year-old completed a transfer from Middlesbrough this week after starring for the Championship side, netting seven goals and registering eight assists this term.

Rogers was visibly excited by the opportunity in front of him when he sat down for his first interview with VillaTV.

“Hearing all that is a dream come true for me,” he said when asked about contributing to the club’s Europa Conference League and top flight campaigns.

“When you grow up watching football when you’re younger, they’re the competitions you want to play in and you want to play at the top.

“I’m so grateful and honoured to be given this opportunity to do so. Now it’s down to me to show what I’m about and why I deserve to be here.”

Born in Halesowen and coming through the ranks at West Bromwich Albion, Rogers is already familiar with Bodymoor Heath and some of his new teammates, including Jacob Ramsey and Tim Iroegbunam.

The forward says the training ground has everything needed for him to be successful in claret and blue, and he’s now looking forward to putting in the work under head coach Unai Emery.

“I had a conversation with him briefly, getting to know him and what he’s about, his goals and the way he is as a manager,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to working with him because I feel like he can get the best out of me.”

Rogers joins a team who are fighting in the upper echelons of the Premier League, and he’s hoping to contribute over the second half of the season.

Rogers said: “With the way that the team has started this season, I want to add to that and just try to improve myself.

“I want to put myself in the best possible position to get to the top. With the manager and the players that are here and the way the club is going, it’s only going to get better.”
