The Premier League is only a matter of weeks into the 2024/25 season but international football returns to centre stage in early September.

A host of Aston Villa players will be representing their national teams in Nations League, World Cup qualifiers and friendly action.

Below you can find out which Villans have been called up, who they’re playing and when

England

Ezri Konsa has been named in England’s squad for their UEFA Nations League double-header against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

The Villa defender, who helped the Three Lions reach the Euro 2024 final earlier this summer, will be part of the squad for the fixtures in Dublin on Saturday, September 7 (ko 5pm) and Wembley on Tuesday, September 10 (ko 7.45pm).

Scotland

John McGinn has been included in Scotland's squad for their Nations League fixtures against Poland and Portugal.

The Tartan Army will be competing in League A Group 1 of the competition and face Poland at Hampden Park on Thursday, September 5 (ko 7.45pm) before travelling to Lisbon on Sunday, September 8 (ko 7.45pm).

Serbia

Kosta Nedeljković will look to help his country get their Nations League campaign off to a positive start.

The defender and his teammates face Spain on Thursday, September 5 (ko 7.45pm) and Denmark on Sunday, September 8 (ko 5pm).

Argentina

Emi Martínez has been named in Argentina’s ranks for their World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia.

The Villa goalkeeper, who helped La Albiceleste to Copa América glory over the summer, who be looking to consolidate their place at the summit of CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying standings with the respective fixtures on Friday, September 6 (ko 1am) and Tuesday, September 10 (ko 9.30pm).

Spain

Spain have called upon Pau Torres for their Nations League double header.

The European Champions take on Serbia on Thursday, September 5 (ko 7.45pm) and Switzerland on Sunday, September 8 (ko 7.45pm).

Australia

Joe Gauci will link up with the Socceroos for a pair of FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Australia play Bahrain on Thursday, September 5 (ko 11.10am) and Indonesia on Tuesday, September 10 (ko 1pm).

Colombia

Jhon DurĂĄn joins up with Colombia after bagging two goals in three games this season.

They face World Cup qualifiers against Peru on Saturday, September 7 (ko 2.30am) and Argentina Tuesday, September 10 (ko 9.30pm).

France

Lucas Digne has been called into France's squad for their Nations League fixtures against Italy and Belgium.

The Villa left-back will link up with Les Bleus for their matches on Friday, September 6 (ko 7.45pm) and Monday, September 9 (ko 7.45pm).

Belgium

After a flying start to his Villa career, Amadou Onana is off on Belgium duty alongside Youri Tielemans.

They begin their Nations League Group 2 campaign against Israel on Friday, September 6 (ko 7.45pm) before facing France on Monday, September 9 (ko 7.45pm).

England Under-21s

Morgan Rogers has been included in the Three Lions' Under-21 squad for two 2025 European Championship qualifiers.

Villa's attacking midfielder will hope to feature in games against Northern Ireland on Friday, September 6 (ko 7.45pm) and Austria on Monday, September 9 (ko 7.45pm).

Netherlands Under-21s

Ian Maatsen has been named in the Netherlands' squad for their Euro Under-21 Championship qualifiers against North Macedonia and Georgia.

Maatsen, who helped the Netherlands reached the semi-finals of Euro 2024, will feature for his nation's Jong Oranje against North Macedonia on Thursday, September 5 (ko 7pm) and Georgia on Monday, September 9 (ko 7pm).

Young Lions

A host of Academy players have been called up by their respective nations for matches during the September international period.

Rory Wilson and Aidan Borland are part of Scotland's Under-19 squad, Cole Brannigan and Calum Moreland are away with Northern Ireland's Under-19s while Kadan Young will represent England's Under-19s.

Max Jenner has also been selected to represent England's Under-17s.
