GALLERY: Young Lions secure PL2 play-off place

Aston Villa secured a place in the Premier League 2 play-offs on Monday night courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at St James' Park.

Sil Swinkels’ header just before half-time proved the difference as the Young Lions secured all three points and the last remaining spot in the PL2 play-offs in their final match of the regular league season.

Villa’s Under-21s, who will also compete in the Birmingham Senior Cup final, now face a play-off against league winners Tottenham Hotspur in the knockout stages of the competition.
