The Brazil international midfielder missed the victories over Arsenal and AFC Bournemouth due to a two-match suspension.
His return against Chelsea at Villa Park saw Moussa Diaby named among the substitutes.
It was the sole change to Unai Emery’s XI from the side who started against the Cherries last weekend.
