Aston Villa suffered a 7-2 defeat at the hands of Fulham in the Under-18 Premier League South on Saturday.

The Young Lions went into the encounter unbeaten in their last four but tasted defeat to the high-flying Cottagers at Motspur Park.

Villa took the lead in south-west London courtesy of Rory Wilson’s penalty, but the hosts struck back to lead 2-1 at the break thanks to Tom Olyott’s double.

Olyott completed his hat-trick after the restart while a brace apiece from Callum Osmand and Aaron Loupalo-Bi inflicted defeat, with substitute Bradley Burrowes getting on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Villa will be looking to bounce back when they travel to Norwich City on Saturday.

Luka Lynch

The Villans opened the scoring early on against Fulham as Wilson converted from the penalty spot.

A super save from Sam Lewis almost immediately from kick-off denied Lemar Gordon an instant equaliser.

But the hosts were soon level as Olyott pounced on a defensive error at the back to level matters.

Luka Lynch sent a good chance wide for the visitors, and it was the Cottagers who held a slender 2-1 lead at the interval as Olyott bagged his second of the game just before the break.

Chances continued to come at either end during what was an open encounter, but it wasn’t until just before the hour mark that the hosts opened up a two-goal lead courtesy of Osmand’s header.

Olyott completed his hat-trick to make it 4-1 as, having seen Lewis initially save his spot-kick, he followed up fastest to sweep home the rebound.

Loupalo-Bi fired home a fifth for Fulham shortly afterwards, before sub Burrowes pulled one back for Villa with a well-taken finish across goal and into the bottom corner.

But Osmand grabbed his second of the game when he found the bottom corner from just inside the area, and Loupalo-Bi, having earlier struck the outside of a post, completed the scoring to cap a disappointing afternoon for the Young Lions.
