Aston Villa trio Emi Martínez, Rachel Daly and Daphne van Domselaar are each shortlisted for Monday night’s prestigious Ballon d'Or awards ceremony in Paris.

Martínez is one of only three goalkeepers nominated for the 2023 men’s Ballon d'Or and is once again in the running for the highly-respected Yashin Trophy, which honours the best stoppers in world football.

The World Cup winner with Argentina has been recognised by France Football for the Ballon d'Or for the first time, having previously been nominated for the Yashin Trophy in 2021.

Martínez won The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper Award and World Cup Golden Glove Award in 2022.

Aston Villa Women duo Daly and van Domselaar have also both been nominated for the illustrious women’s Ballon d’Or award.

Forward Daly and goalkeeper van Domselaar have made history by becoming the first Villa Women players to ever be shortlisted for the honour.

Daly, who was top scorer in the Barclays WSL last season and named PFA Players' Player of the Year, has been nominated for her superb form for both Villa and England.

van Domselaar, who joined Villa in the summer, has made the shortlist following her impressive achievements for FC Twente and the Netherlands.

The awards ceremony takes place in Paris on Monday night from 7.45pm.

Huge congratulations and good luck, Emi, Rachel and Daphne!
