Douglas Luiz was delighted to help Aston Villa see off AFC Bournemouth and secure all three points on home soil in front of the club’s supporters.

The Brazilian midfielder put the Villans on their way against the Cherries, netting a seventh-minute opener before late goals from Jacob Ramsey and Emi Buendía sealed a 3-0 triumph.

It ensured Villa, having won one of their previous five in the Premier League at Villa Park, registered back-to-back home wins after their 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

And Luiz was happy to see his side collect maximum reward in B6.

“For us, it’s so important because it’s in front of the fans,” he told VillaTV.

“We did such a good gameplan in the game and the gaffer pushed us because I think, in the last games, we haven’t played so good at home.

“And now we played good, had a good game and won.”

Asked whether Villa are now building momentum at home, Luiz replied: “Yes, I think so.

“Every game we can try and get better on the pitch.”

Luiz’s goal was his fourth of the season in claret and blue, having also registered five assists so far this term.

And the 24-year-old is satisfied with his contribution in the final third to date, with 11 more matches to come.

“The goal is so important, for me and my season,” he added.

“I’m so happy, this season I make more assists, more goals. I’m so happy.”
