Emiliano Buendía believes Aston Villa will reap the benefits of a full pre-season under head coach Unai Emery and his coaching staff.

The 26-year-old has featured in every game under Emery since he joined the club back in October, with Villa quickly ascending the Premier League table to finish seventh last season.

And as he begins his third campaign at the club, Buendía is confident of contributing to another strong season.

“I’m trying to give my best every year,” he said.

“Circumstances always change a little bit, but I’m back for this pre-season ready to work as hard as possible and help the team and the club to keep going.”

The Argentine added: “We’re going to work hard in our style, in our philosophy. We’ve shown already in the last few months since we’ve been working with the new staff how we want to work and how we want to play.

“Working with them from the beginning of the season is going to be excellent for everyone in the team to prepare well for the start of the season.”

Villa head to America next week to take part in the Premier League Summer Series, where they’ll play Brentford, Fulham and Newcastle United.

Buendía thinks the tour will set the team up nicely for when the top flight campaign begins against the Magpies in August.

He said: “It’s really important. We have a really good, exciting three games there against Premier League teams. This is the level that we want to play.

"As a group, it’s important to spend time together as teammates and with the new teammates that are joining us.

“Hopefully we’ll have a good time there.”
