Aston Villa Women begin their Vitality Women's FA Cup campaign this weekend when they host AFC Fylde.

Carla Ward's side will welcome the Lancashire side to Poundland Bescot Stadium on Sunday, with kick-off set for 6pm.

The Fourth Round tie will be Villa's third game in eight days after away trips to Manchester City and Arsenal.

This stage of the competition has been Villa's stumbling block in each of the past three seasons, meaning this weekend's encounter represents a good opportunity to progress in more ways than one.

Sunday's visitors to Poundland Bescot Stadium are AFC Fylde.

The third-tier outfit advanced to this stage of the competition having overcome Solihull Moors in round three.

Currently sitting in midtable of the FA Women’s National League North, this evening represents a chance to pit their wits against a top flight opponent with a place in the last 16 up for grabs.

The Lancashire side opened their season with a 2-0 win at Derby County.

Lucy Staniforth and Anna Patten are in-line to return to the matchday squad this weekend.

The pair were ineligible to face Arsenal in the FA Women's Continental Tyres League Cup on Thursday but will be at Carla Ward's disposal next time out.

It remains to be seen, however, if Dan Turner will have had sufficient time to recover from the concussion suffered last weekend.

Remi Allen and Simone Magill have both continued pitch-based work but are still a significant period away from returning.

Meaghan Sargeant, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Natasha Harding and Freya Gregory remain out with long-term injuries.

The Boss

"In the FA Cup, anything can happen. Rest assured we will give [AFC Fylde] the respect they deserve for progressing to this point of the competition."
