Lucy Staniforth was full of praise for her new teammates following Villa's 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Staniforth played the full 90 minutes as Kenza Dali and Rachel Daly turned a one-goal deficit into a victory at Poundland Bescot Stadium.

And the midifelder couldn't have been happier with her introduction to life at Villa.

“It’s so pleasing," our new arrival beamed.

"You’ve seen so many sides to us in that game. The ending might’ve been a bit scrappy, but it showed how much we wanted to win the game."

"The first half was a different tale all together, some of the football was wonderful."

Despite the high praise our number 12 had for the overall display, it didn't come without a scare or two.

The visitors opened the scoring through Beth England, but Villa quickly turned the game on its head with two goals in four minutes.

“I wasn’t stressed because we’d had all the ball," said a calm Staniforth.

"It was a goal against the run of play, so as soon as we started to break lines and create chances I knew we’d take them.”
