Aston Villa Women continued their perfect run in this season's Conti Cup on Wednesday evening, beating Durham 5-1 at Poundland Bescot Stadium.

Adriana Leon and Rachel Corsie completed a quickfire double shortly after half-time before Rachel Daly notched an unsurprisingly brilliant hat-trick to seal the victory.

The results puts Villa into a commanding position at the top of Group A with one game to go.

As has been the case so far in this season's cup, Carla Ward made wholesale changes with important league games in and around the midweek affair.

In fact, only Sarah Mayling, Corsie, Maz Pacheco and Lucy Staniforth retain their spots after Saturday's 2-1 reverse at Manchester City.

Eleanor Ryan-Doyle of Durham was the first player to register an attempt on target after the game got going, but her effort was straight at Anna Leat.

Meanwhile, Lucy Parker struck the base of the Durham post from a set-piece and Ebony Salmon squandered a one-on-one opportunity as the score remained level.

After the break, Villa looked determined to put the tie to bed and subsequently scored twice in five minutes.

First, Leon converted into an empty net following Kirsty Hanson low cross before Corsie nodded in her first goal since March.

Daly then entered the fray and duly notched an exquisite hat-trick to take this season's tally to 12.

Amy Andrews claimed one back for the visitors but it was Villa who come out on top of Group A.
