Aston Villa Women made a start to their pre-season slate of fixtures last weekend, as they hosted Southampton at Bodymoor Heath.

While the Saints ran out 2-1 winners on the day, Carla Ward will have been pleased to see a raft of first-team regulars gain their first lot of minutes ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

And with then next friendly against Tottenham Hotspur coming up, the team have been put through their paces once again.
