Unai Emery is excited to be leading Aston Villa into the club’s first European campaign in 13 years.

The head coach takes his side to Easter Road to play Hibernian on Wednesday night in the play-off round of the Europa Conference League.

And Emery is anticipating a tough two-legged tie against the Scottish side as Villa bid to make it through to the group stages.

“To play in Europe is always a great moment,” he said.

“We want to enjoy it and we want to be a candidate to do something [in the competition].

“We have to play respecting Hibernian because it’s going to be difficult there as they are at home.

“We have to get into the group being very demanding and respecting the opponent.

“We are trying to take a new way in Europe to be a candidate for the Conference League.”
