Ezri Konsa was delighted to see centre-back partner Tyrone Mings get on the scoresheet and head Aston Villa to victory over Fulham.
Mings flicked home captain John McGinn’s corner midway through the first half to net his first goal in claret and blue since November 2021.
His header proved the difference against the Cottagers as Villa held firm to extend their unbeaten run to 10 Premier League matches, including eight wins and seven clean sheets.
“It was about time one of us scored!” Konsa joked to VillaTV.
“I’m very happy for him, the manager’s been getting on to me and Tyrone.
“On Monday he said if one of us doesn’t score he’s going to kill us. I guess Tyrone listened and he got the goal, I’m happy for him.”
Mings’ header ensured Villa continued their run of scoring in all 20 Premier League fixtures under Unai Emery, the longest streak from the start of a manager’s tenure in the competition’s history.
Konsa added: “It wasn’t our best performance.
“I felt like first half we dominated, obviously we didn’t create enough, but we took our chance in the end.
“In the second half they put us under pressure a bit more but we defended well, defended as a team, stuck together and got the three points in the end.”

It is the first time Villa have won five consecutive top-flight matches on home soil without conceding a goal since 1983.
Victory has moved the club up to fifth in the table on 54 points, with a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United next up on Sunday.
“We’re in a good place at the moment,” said Konsa.
“We want to take it game by game, we’re enjoying every moment of it.
“Now we focus on Sunday’s game and see if we can get a result there as well.”
