Aston Villa secured a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest to seal a sixth triumph in seven unbeaten matches.

First-half substitute Bertrand Traoré, who clinched Tuesday’s 2-1 success at Leicester City, found the net for the second time in five days just after the interval to make the breakthrough in a closely-fought encounter.

In-form Ollie Watkins then made sure of victory deep into injury time with his ninth goal in 11 matches - registering a third successive home win in the Premier League for the first time since 2007.

Villa, who move on to 47 points – eclipsing last season’s tally with eight matches remaining, have now lost just one of their last 16 meetings with The Reds.
